Joseph Kosuth, Titled (Art As Idea As Idea)
Joseph Kosuth was born in 1945 in Toledo (Ohio, USA). He is considered one of the most prominent artists of conceptual art, both through its many theoretical writings and his work. Joseph Kosuth studied at Toledo Museum School of Design from 1945 to 1962 before attending the Cleveland Art Institute from 1963 to 1964. He moved to New York to attend the School of Visual Arts forllowed by the New School for Social Research where he studied philosophy and anthropology. He participates in the collective of British conceptual artists « Art & Language ». He has exhibited at the Biennale de Paris in 1985, at Documenta in 1977, 1982 and 1992, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2003 et at the Louvre Museum in Paris in 2009. He is represented by the Sean Kelly Gallery in New York.
